Each of our paint kits offers an impressive coverage of 5sqm per litre. You can paint a small hatchback car with just 2 litres, while a larger van-sized vehicle typically requires around 3 to 4 litres.
Many people mistakenly believe that our paint appears different from authentic bare metal rust; however, our paint actually oxidizes on the exposed surface, resulting in a finish that is indistinguishable from genuine bare metal rust!
Every surface should first undergo a brief 'roughing up' process using sandpaper, followed by a thorough degreasing with either a specialized panel wipe or warm soapy water to ensure optimal adhesion.
No - Our paint does not require any sealants or clear coats, and it can be cleaned just like any standard paint (using a jet wash, etc).
Absolutely - Numerous customers have successfully utilized varnishes and automotive clear coats in their projects.
Absolutely! All of our kits are designed to be highly flexible, setting them apart from some other sellers who offer spray can paints or resin-based kits, which unfortunately lack flexibility. For a visual comparison, please refer to the videos below.
Rusty Paint is a high-quality anti-corrosive flexible paint, expertly formulated with a unique triple mix of fine metal particles suspended in a specialized solution. This versatile paint can be effortlessly applied using a roller, brush, or spray gun and is allowed to dry. Once fully cured, the top layer is sanded down to reveal the special metal fragments, which, when exposed to environmental conditions, naturally develop authentic rust. Additionally, the rusting process can be greatly accelerated by applying our exclusive rust accelerator. The product is also designed for layering, allowing for textured applications to achieve your desired finish.
No - Firstly iron filings would not work if being added to a standard paint, due to standard paint not being able to suspend the metal due to the differences in weight. If iron was simply added to standard paint, you would have great difficulties applying the product to a surface (as it wouldn't pass through a spray gun, and would clump on a brush / roller). There would also be potential of the iron rusting within the paint itself, prior to any application, thus making it unusable! Our paint has 3 types of particles within it, specially designed to work with a modified specialist paint, mixed with two other products.
While this may not be a common query, we occasionally encounter individuals who have difficulty following our instructional steps. The ONLY factors that could prevent the product from rusting include improper mixing, insufficient sanding, or inadequate degreasing. It is crucial to stir the product thoroughly before and after adding the hardener, as outlined in the label instructions. This is necessary because our paint contains numerous ingredients that tend to settle at the bottom of the can. Additionally, sanding should be performed in accordance with the guidance provided in the videos, which will help clarify what to look for in terms of 'colour change', 'specs', and 'sheen'. Lastly, if the project is not thoroughly cleaned and degreased after the final sanding, any residual sanding dust can hinder the rusting process, because our paint includes anti-corrosive protection properties. Most of these issues (except for the initial mixing) can be easily resolved by revisiting the straightforward instructional steps.
